Father Left In Coma For Tackling Underage Drinkers

A young father was left in a coma after being savagely beaten by a gang of teenagers for refusing to buy alcohol for their underage friends.

Yesterday two members of the mob, Jamie Taylor, 18, and Shaun Armstrong, 17, both of Gateshead, were sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders institute after admitting causing grievous bodily harm.

They could be free in just six months.

A third teenager, Paul Naylor, 17, of Heworth, Gateshead, who prosecutors said did not play an active role in the attack, was given 100 hours' community service after pleading guilty to affray.

Does anyone out there seriously believe that these sentences would have been so light if it was a woman who had been beaten to a coma?
